WHAT IS PICKLEBALL?
Pickleball was invented in 1965 when three dads vacationing in Seattle, Washington, tried to create a game that both children and themselves would enjoy. Initially played on a badminton court, the dads gradually formalized their game into the pickleball we know and love today.
Pickleball can be played in either singles or doubles and takes place on a 44x20ft court. Unlike other racket sports, composite or wooden paddles and wiffle balls are used to play. The main goal is to successfully outlast your opponent in a volley to win points.
WHY PICKLEBALL?
Designed to be accessible and attractive to players of all ages and abilities, Pickleball is an inclusive sport by its nature. It is largely for this reason that in recent years it has gained substantial popularity and become the fastest-growing sport in the United States.
Unfortunately, in our world, there are always barriers that stop individuals from participating in activities, including physical disabilities, cognitive disabilities, mental health challenges, and other stigmas that impact one’s ability to engage and comfort in certain environments.
OUR MISSION:
Our goal at Pickleball 4 All is to provide opportunities for non-traditional players, or players who may not feel comfortable in typical sports environments, to garner the benefits of pickleball.
We strive to create a safe space for individuals to meet others, engage in physical activity, and explore the many benefits pickleball offers, including improved cardiovascular health, hand-eye coordination, social and community engagement, team work, a boost in endorphins and mental health, and more.
OUR 4 MAIN OBJECTIVES:
FOSTER COMMUNITY: We work to ensure that every participant leaves each event feeling fulfilled and empowered. Our aim is for participants to meet others, socialize, and engage as a community, on and off the court.
CREATE A SAFE SPACE: We aspire to use the game of pickleball to create both a welcoming and engaging space where people can feel comfortable, act authentically, and meet others.
CHALLENGE STIGMA: We are dedicated to challenging the stigmas some face in sports environments. We aim to show our participants and society that everyone is capable of anything they put their mind to—no matter what differences they may have.
TEACH THE GAME OF PICKLEBALL: We educate and instruct participants in pickleball. We strive to push our participants outside their comfort zones and motivate them to welcome new challenges.
